Guest guest
I recently had a number of tests done through genova Labs in the UK (IWDL) and one of the tests was for Urine Amino Acids. (I also had Plasma Amino Acids done.) The urine test showed that I had high levels of Cysteine and Cystine in the urine. This apparently is called Cystinuria. I have been reading about it but would like to know if anyone here has experience of this and it's relationship to Amalgam Illness. It does not appear to have any mention in AI. I have also listed some of the other values which were high or low in both urine, red blood cell and plasma samples in the hope that someone here may be able to comment on them. I have also mentioned a few other results which I think may be relevant. Questions are at the bottom. (I will be asking Andy to comment on my results also. I have electronic copies of all my tests but I'm not sure if I can post them to the group or not. Writing every result and range by hand would take me a week!!! LOL so here are only the derranged ones.) So first a few results which may be relevent and then some questions: Results of out of range metabolic markers and Urine Amino Acids: Lactic Acid 5.5 (6.3-36.4)Low Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid 22.9 (0.5-16.0)High Lysine 333 (45-286) High Taurine 2,095 (68-538) High Anserine 139 (7-126) High Carnosine 13 (10-104) Low normal 1-Methylhistadine 1,710 (92-1,046) High Beta- Alanine 69 (<=21) Very High Dihydroxyphenylproprionic Acid (DHPPA) 5.9 (<=2.2) Very High Cysteine 89 (21-78) High Cystine 118 (26-78)High Citrulline 89 (12-45)High Sarcosine 58 (<=58) High Results of out of range Plasma Amino's: Arginine 6.9 ( 7.0-13.5) Low Lysine and Isoleucine were at the bottom of the normal range 1-Methylhistidine was as top of normal range Asparagine 4.0 (4.3-7.5) low Cyst(e)ine 1.6 (4.6-8) Low Glutamic Acid 7.0 (0.5-6.5) High Glutamine 41 (47-70) Low Glycine was bottom of normal range Serine 8.2 (8.5-16.5) Low Tyrosine was at the top of normal range Phosphoethanolamine at the bottom of normal Urea was low normal 3-Methylhistidine at the bottom end of normal My Histamine was normal 43.0 (28-51) Urine toxic elements:(during DMSA round 25mgs) Lead 1.8 (<=1.4) High Barium 6.6 (<=6.7)high Cesium 13.1 (<=10.5) high Gallium 0.052 (<=0.028) High Platinum 0.039 (<=0.298)High Thallium 0.339 (<=0.298) High Copper 13.9 (4.0-11.4) very high Manganese 1.89 (0.03-1.16) high Sulfur in middle of range, molybdenum and selenium low normal. Red Blood Cell analysis (NON PROVOKED but a few days after round) Lead and arsenic in normal ranges. Mercury 0.0087 (<=0.0039) High!!!!!!!!!! Antimony was just into the red as was cadmium Vanadium non existent! Zinc 5.9 (7.8-13.1) Low Detoxification profile: Fast phase 1, slow 2! Yuk! Glutathione, Sulfation and Glucuronidation all slow Glycine conj. off scale (fast) Other info: Been chelating with DMSA for 16 months. Up to 25mgs. All recommended supplements. Addisons and hypothyroidism. Hair test in March 2006 showed most definite mercury poisining. Sadly no improvements so far other than being able to tolerate a slightly higher dose of DMSA. According to Geneva labs It seems likely that I have protein malabsorbtion and bacterial (But not fungal)) dysbiosis. It also said that my need for methylation was low (don't know how accurate that is)and detox impairment is high. (Well THAT one I worked out myself LOL!) Have confirmed reactivation of Epstein Barre virus from over 13 years ago. So, my questions are: 1)Regarding the Cystinuria: Is this something which has been caused by my mercury poisoning? 2) Is it a common problem in AI? 3) Can you have cystinuria with high or low plasma cysteine/cystine? Knowing that plasma testing for Cystine is unreliable, could it be that in this case my very low plasma Cyst(e)ine is accurate or could it still really be high? 4) I read that one should eat a low animal protein diet with Cystinuria. I suppose then that the low sulhur diet would also be a good idea? 5) This question may be dumb but...If someone is wasting cystine in their urine, why should they limit cysteine making foods? It would seem to me that you need more cysteine to replace what you are losing and not reclaiming in the kidneys? 6) With regards to the other tests, I realise these results are just the ones out of range (mainly) but any comments or anything glaringly obvious which I may have missed would be gratefully received!
