Guest guest
I am meeting with the occupational therapist from 's school to see if I can get him sensory integration therapy. Does anyone have suggestions on how I should approach this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Maggie who got ready for school in ten minutes this morning. Call me Supermom! Does anyone > have suggestions on how I should approach this? > Well, do you know if the OT there is pro or con toward SI treatment? If s/he is pro, then it won't be very hard, I don't think...just be sure to aim your request toward how his sensory issues interfere with his EDUCATIONAL goals...because in the schools, that is what it is all about. If the OT isn't in favor of SI therapy, then you may have to bring in research/articles in defense of your position...I have some references if you want them. If the OT isn't able to do SI therapy, you *should* be able to make the school pay for an appropriate therapist...but that is a fantasy in some school districts...we have several good advocates on this list who can tell you what to do in that case.
