Guest guest
Can i comment too? My doc also told me he didnt want me in a wheelchair, but when i go to Walmart, Sams, HEB, Target..thats why i go there. They are so convenient! i love them! Joyce,I wonder why they would say that? I'm assuming because they want you to stay physically active as long as possible, strong muscels help you breath better but I don't have a choice. I need over 5lpm to stay above 90 and keep my hr below 150. I can't get the o2 people to give me more than a 5 pulse regulator and I drain the tanks too fast at that rate. So I use the carts and then I can turn the tanks down. I've never been to rehab because the damn insurance won't pay although I think I have a way to get it done. Gonna wait to see what NJH says. I'd much rather use a cart and have a life than not and stay home because its too much. Dyane Phoenix ipf 02>> I have a question about power chairs. Those of you who use them- how low does your O2 go with oxygen when you move? Do you need more liters per minute? I ask these questions because I asked both my physician and my pulmodude and the pulmodude at Jewish about using the electric chairs at places like Costco and super walmarts and the grocery store and they all said NO without hesitation. They told me to lean on the cart but don't use the electric cart. It seems like none of my doctors wanted me or wants me to use any kind of device that would make life easier because they say it is bad for the lungs. Guest guest
Yes, Dyane- I am returning next week. I'm driving with a friend and my dog. I feel certain they will find my lungs improved. I must be dense because I really can't understand how my heart rate can be up even though my O2 is ok and my blood pressure is ok...I just don't understand it. What do you mean by a reserve? They said something about me not having any reserve when I almost died because of the Vats. I am having a hard time understanding the notion of a reserve. Our oxygen in our body last about 4 minutes. Joyce Rudy AZ birds Re: Question about power chairs Joyce,From what I understand our heart rate shoots up because we have no reserve of 02 in our tissues and then stays up trying to get the most out of what we are getting through our lungs. I don't take carts everywhere, I walk to and from my doctors offices, etc, but if I continue to walk my sats drop below 90. I will be very interested to see what happens in November during my first (after 7 years you think I would have had one of these) 6 minute walk. I walked up and down the hallway today at the doctors office while waiting for them to open using an e tank on 5lpm pulse and by the time I sat down (maybe 100 yds or so) I had dropped to 87 and my hr was up to 124. Everything stabalized but I could feel it. Get your excercise but if your body is telling you to sit then sit and ride. Just because a doctor tells me something doesn't mean its gospel. Only you can tell them how you feel. Its like the difference between a balance sheet and an income statement. A balance sheet is a snapshot in time, just like your test results..at that second they were so and so. But you are like an income statement which shows a whole month or year of data and many many times I tell my clients that the year to date stuff is more important than any one minute or month can be. You are going back to NJH this month right?Dyane Phoenix Ipf 02> >> > I have a question about power chairs. Those of you who use them- how low does your O2 go with oxygen when you move? Guest guest
Beth, I just don't understand! If our 02 is over 90 shouldn't we have enough oxygen? Why would our heart rate be up if our 02 was at 92-93? Guest guest
Nan, where did you find your luandry hamper? I live on a single family one story home but I sure could use it to bring my laudry to the garage! Joyce Rudy AZ Birds Re: Question about power chairs I have a cart that I use to get my groceries in the house. I also ask the grocery bagger to put all my fridge stuff in the same bags. That way, I bring in the groceries and only put away the cold or frozen stuff before I rest. I live in a 7th floor apt. The laundry is on the first. So, I found a laundry hamper that has wheels on the bottom and a strap on the side. I roll it right onto the elevator and downstairs. It's bright orange and my neighbors all laugh and say oh here she comes w/ her trash can! LOL But, whatever works!Nan 49, MAList started '84ILD '04PF '08Asthma '09> >> > I have a question about power chairs. Those of you who use them- how low does your O2 go with oxygen when you move?
