Guest guest
Pink ... I went through this about a year ago... If you know a good computer person they can replace the hard drive. I bought a rebuilt tower and it all cost me about $300 or so... sure couldn't buy a new computer for that. Good luck. Oh, btw, my computer was a about 6 y/o also. I have an IBM Aptiva monitor. Probably not even familiar to anyone now. Everything working just fine. MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. Guest guest
Pink The basic entry level computers now are more than powerful enough to do anything we need. Understand the cheapest one you can find will be many times more powerful than what you have. Right now Best Buy has a Compaq with a 19 inch flat screen monitor online for $399.98. Most stores today have a wide variety below $600. I personally would go with HP or Compaq in the low price range (same company). and I both have HP's that have performed well. Your other option is a laptop. Now, many on here will say they love them. I like mine but would not want to use it all the time. Best Buy has Toshiba's under $400 as well. I have a Toshiba I like although I also like HP and Compaq laptops. The problem for me with a laptop is the screen size. However, they do now have some with larger screens. There are laptops now that are very small and sound like a great idea unless you're old and can't see well like me. The less expensive laptops generally have 15 inch screens. I prefer 17 inch in a laptop. Now, with these prices, I would never do a repair on an older computer. You'd be spending at least $200 or so to still have a far less powerful computer than you could buy for $400-600. > > i need a new computer > it's driving me crazy figuring out which one to get and which options to choose > > my computer said that i need a new hard drive > everyone says that because it is 6 years old i should get a new computer > > any suggestions? > > > Pink Joyce (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania > Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 > www.transplantfund.org >
