Hi All -

GET-TOGETHERS - I live in San , CA...Silicon Valley/San Francisco Bay Area.

Are there any others in northern CA? I'm not able to fly since my last

cross-country trip, but would also enjoy meeting others nearby. I go to

Stanford U. Hospital.

MARY BETH - I second what others have said about speaking to your/an

anestheiologist before your colonscopy. I had my first last year, but wasn't on

O2 24/7 then. They did give me a valium about 30 mins. before the procedure and

then just before, something through the IV. I was sleepy/groggy, but recall

seeing the screen a time or two.

And NO I do NOT watch...as far as I'm concerned...just do what you need and get

it over with. Regarding the prep, I have light foods (liquids, soft foods) a

couple of days before taking the prep, which I think makes it a bit easier...and

no spicy food. Next, I second 'Mama Sher's' advice about having some sort of

lubricant to protect and sooth the area the day of the prep. I also use 'Tucks'

as a light compress, if needed.

And yes, the prep is the worst of it. This last time they found and removed a

polyp...I didn't feel a thing. Good luck with undergoing a necessary but 'evil'

procedure. :<}
