I'm soooo sorry, Joyce....thanks for responding, tho. Did ever get the diarrhea under any kind of control?? I just want some kind of quality of life for Glenn without pain....maybe that's too much to ask?? I will definitely talk with the Onc. tomorrow about an Infectious Disease Dr. Guess I should take a list of all the meds Glenn has been on the last 2 months for the diarrhea, which supposedly was from the Colitis (C-Diff) but if that's " clean " now, and he still has diarrhea, we must still have a problem. I know that's also a symptom of the failing liver, but we'll see what the Ct. Scan and bloodwork shows.... thanks again, Joyce. Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle Caregiver to Glenn
Guest guest
Donelle, Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I am blessed to have one of 's favorite nurses spending a couple of days with me. She is truly a angel and was so good to . As far as the diareah goes the only thing that helped some was a tip given by a nurse that had treatment at MD . She said the Oncologist said to dilute the metamusil in half the amount of liquid recommended. He did this about 4 times a day and would double the dose of Immodium. We did every imaginable potion recommended. He even had the Onc write a prescription for the old time Paragoric that we used to give our babies. He really screwed up and did not dilute it and drank it straight and just about went thru the roof. We got a good laugh out of it later. The only true relief he got was to finally consent to a colostomy. He hated the " bag " with a passion, but it finally gave him some quality back to his life. I can still see his face when I checked him out of the hospital. He asked me to stop at a Mexican resturant and he overdosed on chips and picante sauce. That was his favorite thing to eat and just could not do it without paying dearly the next morning. We had no kind of life for the first three years due to no control over the multiple bowel movements. He also had abscess and fistulas in the rectum and so the pain was pretty significant. You would think with all the research and knowledge the medical profession has that they could come up with something to stop the runs. Hang in there girlfriend and give Glenn a hug from me.
