Guest guest
Well we're back from schlepping both kids to our local SuperWalMart. It was not too bad, all things considered, tho n did engage in passive resistance, thrashing and rolling on the floor when he realized that I was going to put him in the cart ... Funny thing is, with n in the cart seat, and Phoebe in her car seat in the cart basket, there is *no* room for groceries! Anyway, I have some good news. The other night I was giving n a bath and he was playing with the bottles of shampoo. I have been working on the word " bottle " with him as a result. So he begins to line up the bottles on the edge of the tub: n: <places first bottle> Me: " one bottle " n: <placing second> " two bottles " [ " bottles " ! with an " s " ! as in he is understanding plurals?!?! whoa!] n: <contentedly places all four bottles, carefully orienting them so all the labels are facing the same way ...> (SAHM in GA) MSN elizabethloht@... n 33, mo, no formal dx Phoebe, 10 wks

You know those little colored rings that you place on a stick. They are graduated in size and the blue one goes on the bottom and the red on the top? Well, I could never figure out why it took Putter so long to stack those until I realized that he was lining up the small hole where the two sides of the ring joined (they are hollow and it is just a pinprick hole), and making sure that the tiny initials " FP " for Fisher-Price that were so small I had never noticed them were right side up. Autism! It's an incredible adventure! Salli
Guest guest
This reminds me ... when n was a baby and I gave him stuffed animals, he was always most interested in the little tag on the butt that no one else notices ... maybe I should have known ... Guest guest
, did the same thing. At five months, he found the tag on the portacrib mattress, and he was entranced. Guest guest
As we've said before....You never know what our kids are capable of! They take in so much even when they don't appear to be paying attention! Sue
