hello i am still trying to figure out what ldn thru me for such a loop.

it seems to have really set me back. since taking it i still suffer

migraines nausea dizziness fatigue more than before i started it. does

this have to do with my liver's inability to process meds? i 1st

developed the nausea dizziness - but not the migraines - after 3 years

of taking minocin to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). it put RA into

remission but then i got very bad nausea dizziness fatigue. so bad i had

to quit work. then i stopped mino and RA came back hard.

----------I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, , and unfortunately, I

really don't know anything about ldn or RA. I would suggest searching the

archives of the 3 chelation groups using " ldn andrewhallcutler " in the search

box, and the same with minocin and RA, to see if anything comes

up.---------Jackie

i assumed this

was due to candida but maybe something else is going on. maybe it got my

liver bunged up b/c ldn has done same thing to me and now my tolerance

of sulfur foods is worse than before ldn. can someone explain this to

me? i've looked at section in andy's book but don't understand the liver

pathways and drug and sulfur foods relationships.

----------Yes, the liver stuff can take some time to understand. I will give

you some links, and also try to explain some here. There are two phases that

foods and chemicals get processed through the liver. Phase 1 and Phase 2. If

phase 1 is fast and phase 2 is slow, then things get bottled-necked in between

and build up, and this can cause symptoms. There are things you can take to

slow down phase 1, and this helps people with this problem feel better. Also,

there are a number of different pathways in phase 2, and 1 or more may not be

functioning properly, so again a slow down in processing things. So

supplementing and/or diet changes can sometimes help with these. The liver

detox profile will test your phase 1 and I think 4 of the phase 2 pathways. So

it can help identify some of these problems.

Now one of these phase 2 pathways is sulfation. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS THE

SULFUR FOODS PROBLEMS PEOPLE TALK ABOUT. If you are low in sulfate, then

things that require sulfation will get backed up, and you will feel better if

you avoid those foods/things that require sulfation, and you can also get more

sulfate in you by taking epsom salt baths or supplementing with it. Foods

containing phenols and salicylates require sulfation.

The sulfur food problem has to do with your plasma cysteine levels, and the

above has to do with your plasma sulfate levels. Two different things. This

has been discussed before, and these links should help to explain it.

All of the above is in the Links and Files section of the group. There is

probably more info there too.--------Jackie

thinking i need to get

liver detox profile done. will this help me to determine what's working

and what doesn't and which foods/supplmts/meds to take and which to

avoid?

-----------This test will tell how your phase 1 and 2 are doing, and according

to Andy, the cysteine test is no longer accurate, but the sulfate still is I

believe. So it might be helpful.---------Jackie

i went to see a naturopath last week to ask re ordering the test

and he wants me to do a bunch of his own tests 1st which i don't think

will be useful to me and i therefore don't want to pay the $1000 to do

them!!

-----------I believe you can order the test yourself through Direct Labs. And

yes, some doctors want to do lots of testing, and maybe not always

necessary.-------Jackie

i'm in kelowna BC. maybe i should drive to Wa to see julie?

anyone here a patient of hers? if so can you tell me re your experience?

-----------If you can get there, then yes, would probably be a good

choice. She comes highly recommended by Andy, and a number of us have been to

see her, including myself. She seems knowledgeable about all of this, including

liver and gut issues, and only seems to order tests that she feels are

necessary. I have been very happy with her. I had already had the liver detox

test done before I went to see her, so I don't know how often she orders

it.---------Jackie

thanks
