Guest guest
I was just prescribed Niferex (iron supplement) by my doctor for low ferritin. I welcome this because I am still often very fatigued, even though my thyroid and adrenal issues have been addressed as far as possible. I know Andy (in the book) recommends keeping iron in the low end of the range, but thyroid people recommend keeping ferritin in the high end. (It IS the same thing, right?) After a year+ of chelation, thyroid/adrenal seems to be my biggest problem, and i need to get functional. Reading about drug interactions, i see that iron is totally contraindicated with Dimercaprol (BAL), which i'm not taking of course, but it's chemical name sounds so close to DMSA - Dimercaptosuccinic acid, that i'm concerned. Dimercaprol with iron forms 'toxic salts' which damage the kidneys. The structure of the two look sufficiently different over at Wikipedia, but what do i know, i never even took chemistry... So, wondering if anyone knows whether there is any warranted concern about DMSA and iron taken together? thanks, NJ
