We had laminate in the old house (and have just had a new one laid here).

It saw me through two children, who wee'd on it, spilt food and drink on it,

were sick on it etc. etc. Just a quick wash and it was as good as new. We

had had it for 6 years when we left, and a few patches were looking a bit

worn, but you can have it sanded and refinished if that happens. My advice

would be to get the laminate with the 8mm or more thickness and then you can

sand it down if there's a problem. I loved it - which is why we had it

fitted here. In the same way as I would always recommend leather sofa's for

families - they survive far better than fabrics and carpets - and although

more expensive at the outset, are worth it in the long run.
