Guest guest
Jane, Boy I would be feeling really cautious too if I were in your shoes. When I had my biopsy I reacted poorly to the anesthesia, had to be intubated and ended up on a ventilator for a couple of days. I know you've experienced far far worse than that. I'm not sure how comfortable I would be having any type of sedation in an office setting. Give your history I'd be feeling uneasy too. Can you have a talk with the eye doctor about your concerns? Always go with your gut instinct Jane...don't let them talk you into doing something you are not completely comfortable with. Guest guest
Jane I would talk to the doctors at Emory as well as your eye doctor. Then make sure every precaution was in. As to the sedation you need to know exactly what they do have in mind, not just a general term. Then, if the doctors say its ok, you must be sure there is adequate oxygen, they have an oximeter hooked to you, and they have adequate knowledge to maintain your saturation. I'm sure under the sedation your breathing will slow down significantly requiring at least what you require for sleep if not more. If you don't have all the answers in time, then I'd postpone until I was completely comfortable. Like MB I had anesthesia issues on my VATS. Now mine was that I came out of it too soon and they didn't recognize it or do anything about it. So, I was awake for things I could never describe and you couldn't imagine if I did. I wanted to die right there on the table and tried to tell them so but couldn't get words to come out. I just didn't think I could take any more and thought that was what life was going to be like as I didn't realize at that moment that it would get better. > > Jane, > Boy I would be feeling really cautious too if I were in your shoes. Guest guest
Jane, I recently had a colonoscopy and had to get an okay from my pulmonologist before the procedure could be performed. Definitely check with your doc. Adrienne Subject: Re: JaneTo: Breathe-Support Date: Sunday, June 28, 2009, 12:32 AM JaneI would talk to the doctors at Emory as well as your eye doctor.
