Guest guest
I'd like to ask others who experience muscle cramps as a side effect of prednisone what they do to mitigate this frequent, and sometimes debilitating, condition. I make up a gelatin capsule of the herb tumeric with just a little dry mustard mixed in. My measurements aren't precise but about 1/4 teaspoon per cap. I take one daily. Since the cramps come and go rather randomly it is hard to say; but I feel it may have helped lessen the severity. As I read up on muscle cramps, I have now added Gatorade because electrolyte imbalance is another cause. Within a day my cramps were diminished 75%. Again, it will take time to determine if my home remedies are what are affecting them or it is just the usual ups and downs of them. Also, where do most people experience them? No, I don't mean the supermarket! They come in my feet, toes, legs, back, waist, abdomen, rib cage and numerous other areas. The only areas that seems mostly unaffected is arms and hands. I even had one in my left hand once. What do others do for these? I would appreciate any suggestions. BTW, I get them as I near the finish on a round of prednisone and afterward. I never experience them at high doses but mostly 20mg and under. ann St. , Utah (Formerly East Tennessee) IP, '97, IPF/HP 2004
