and the results are in!!

CCCLLLEEEAAANNN!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe's colonoscopy was clean everything looked GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who are new here, and for those of you who just need

encouragement ,

Joe was 33yrold last Sept when he underwent a colonoscopy for stomach

cramps , after almost 7months of the doctors trying to figure out what was

wrong with him,

On Sept 16 2004 , he was diagnosed with colon cancer, he underwent his

resection on Sept 27th 2004, this is where they found that he was a stage 4

as he had mets to his abdominal wall lining , and lymph nodes ( 3 out of 39

were positive for cancer)

They removed all of his sigmoid colon , very top part of rectum ,

abdominal wall lining and 39lymph nodes.

We wanted statistics, they oncologist told him 6months without chemo and

22months with.

Joe had an ileostomy reversal on Dec 7th 2004, and started chemo in Jan

2005.

He was on 5fu/Lecovern(sp) /Oxaplatin/avastin/calcium magnesium ( for the

tingles)

He was seriously ill the weeks he was on chemo , I aint gonna lie, finally

found a cocktail of anti nausea that helped in the 5month of treatment (

Emend, adavant, compozine, baggy full of anti nausea meds during treatment )

it was the only thing that worked for him.

Anyhow , on June 6 2005 , he had his last treatment , at which time I

again asked the doctor how long, I mean was it 22months from diagnosis , or

did the 22months start then?

The doctor at that time replied, you know I think you may beat this.

It has been almost 6months since his last treatment , and all abdominal ct

scans have been clean , colonoscopy clean, CEA levels , non existent (under

1)

So , although this is a horrid scary battle IT CAN be won .

Thanks all for the support throught the last year, I dont know what I

would have done without you , special hugs go out to Donelle , and Narice, I

know you ladies need them

CCCLLLEEEAAANNN!!!!!!!!!!! Deb, thank God. This is wonderful news. I

have been reading your news updates about Joe for the last three

months, and very happy that he is well. Please don't forget to put

the clean colonoscopy at the bottom, after the May 9 Plateletts are

low 75,000. :) Now that is something to shout about!!!
