Guest guest
Some weeks ago I posted under the subject DMPS side effects. This thread rambled on a while with many of you responding. One subject of interest to me covered in post 25606, is the ability of DMPS to chelate copper. I wondered, based on references in Andy's book if using DMPS could cause a copper imbalance. After discussing it with TK and and others I was inclined to think not, as they do. However, in light of subsequent experiences I am more inclined to believe that, at least in some cases, it should be expected to cause a mild copper deficiency if not otherwise remedied. In two out of my last three rounds I have had symptoms of the herpes roster virus - better know as shingles. In both cases the symptoms were similar and began towards the end of a five day - fifteen dose round . It has been widely observed that copper in various forms and compounds acts to suppress or inactivate certain viruses, including Herpes simplex and Herpes Roster. Any adult that had chikenpox as a child carries the herpes roster virus (very often in an inactive state). When the virus becomes active you get shingles and or PHN, a shingles related neuralgia. May be just a coincidence but I am inclined to think not There are plenty of abstracts out there that would indicate that copper suppresses or inactivates herpes. And references in AI that indicate that DMPS has been used to reduce copper levels in the body. I am now inclined to believe that normal levels of copper in the cells and blood helps keep herpes down, that DMPS does chelate copper and that the combination can cause an upswing in herpes roster activity. " Mechanism of Copper-Mediated Inactivation of Herpes Simplex Virus JOSE-LUIS SAGRIPANTI,* LICIA B. ROUTSON, AYLIN C. BONIFACINO, AND C. DAVID LYTLE " Previous reports on inactivation of herpesvirus, arenavirus, and human immunodeficiency virus (26–28), together with advances in current knowledge of the interaction of copper with biomolecules, justified this study to explore the potential of copper-based formulations for the treatment of HSV infection.
