My friend's 3yo daughter was pushed off a climbing frame at the park this week by another child. She now has a broken arm which is in temporary cast and has to be properly set tomorrow. :-( To be fair the parent did apologise to my friend and didn't react too badly to her child being a called a v rude word by my friend. -- Sue
Guest guest
I should hope she didn't! In a similar vein, at the beach last week, DS had run off to play with an older boy (about 5ish I guess) on Porthcurno beach. The older boy was with his parents, but over a brow from us so we couldn't see them and, not knowing them from Adam (though I'm sure they were utterly lovely), I wasn't happy about DS (2) being out of my sight, so went to fish him back. Whereupon the other boy started hitting me quite hard across the back with a cricket wicket! I am not a temperate woman, and only just managed to restrain myself from saying something fairly sharp and probably blue, too, but the situation wasn't helped by his mother saying mildly, " Stop that, it's not helpful " . I should think it bleedin' wasn't!! I still have a lovely bruise.... I hope your friend's daughter is better soon. Guest guest
> I had to make what felt like a rather weird decision today/yesterday.. a friend had told me that she had met her old childminder in the playground with 8 kids with her (she was back when my friend used her only licecend for 5) Lonnie, this reply isn't dealing with any of the rest of your post (I agree there are some bad childminders out there) but I just thought I would point out that as of 1st September the responsibility for registering and inspecting childminders has passed from local councils to OFSTED, and this change may allow childminders to care for more children than under their previous registration. I don't know the details yet, but it is a possibility.
