My son had these kinds of symptoms with DMSA (from VRP) and he would

jump to his knees on the floor. We tried DMSA for 3 rounds and

during the third, we had to stop because he was so uncomfortable. I

was using 5mg doses every every 3 hours. We took a month break and I

tried one 5mg dose and the symptoms came back full force (awful), so

I know it was DMSA. He cannot tolerate it at all so I guess we're

sticking to ALA alone from here on out.

Fortunately, there were gains from our short use of DMSA, but I won't

put him through the agony again.

I think I am going to finish this round with the DMSA. Then, for our

next round I will try ALA alone. I did choose DMSA because it has

been reported to have fewer side effects for those who are first

starting chelation. I wanted to lower her body burden of Mercury

before starting ALA. However, I will try the ALA and make a decision.

I do have to say that increasing the dosing to every 3 hours has

helped her with redistribution.

I notice that magnesium is missing from your list of supplements.

Magnesium is always in short supply, is used up fast during chelation

because it is a cofactor for so many enzymes. Insufficient magnesium

can be associated with headaches.

Andy has sometimes suggested taking magnesium and vitamin C with every

dose. I do this by using ascorbic acid as a filler for my capsules,

and I make an electrolyte drink that I sip on all day that contains

epsom salts (magnesium), ascorbic acid, with a couple other things.

Hi Summer,

I'm just curious, what was the source of your daughter's mercury and/or

some other metal toxicity. I have a ten year old daughter who has

developed a thyroid condition and I am looking into whether she has a

heavy metal problem.
