Guest guest
Ted...welcome to our board. You're in a good place as we share our common disease. How were you diagnosed (dx) with PF? What tests did the doc do? I'm sorry to hear you wife has Alzheimer's. It's good you have kids to help. I had an x-ray that looked 'funny'...another x-ray and a Cscan. I saw the dx on the x-ray and went home and looked it up on the internet. Wow! what a surprise. I had no idea it is a fatal disease but that has been 3 + years now. I too use O2 but I'm fairly stable. I'm stable and live in Oregon.Where are you? MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Hello to all, I'm new so I"m not sure I'm in the right place. I'm a 78 year old guy who had a Cardiac stent implanted on March 16, 2009. Recovery didn't go as expected; tests followed with CT scan that showed Pulmonary Fibrosis. Prior I was healthy. Cut my own grass, worked my large perennial garden, volunteered at hospital transporting patients in their wheel chairs and because my wife has Alxheimer's disease I cook and clean the house. Only medication was for Hypertension. Had no other issues. Today I'm use Oxygen to function; fatigued and dependent on my children for many of things I used to do for myself. I'm wondering if any of you have had a similair experience. The doctors say that the stent implant couldn't cause Pulmonary Fibrosis. That I understand but what aggravated it?. I suspect it may be Plavix, the blood thinner med that I given as soons as I arrived in the ER and have been taking ever since. I'd apprecaite your imput. Thanks. Guest guest
Ted, I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. Though you are in good company here. We have members of all ages and all kinds of stories that brought us together. No one wants to have to seek this kind of group out but since it was necessary I'm glad you found us. I think it's highly unlikely that Plavix could have caused the scarring or fibrosis in your lungs. It's not the kind of thing that is caused by a blood thinner. I wonder if the stress of your heart problems and subsquent stent placement could have exacerbated a very mild condition. Stress is our common enemy, it makes everything worse. I'm so sorry that you are going through this when I'm sure you just want to be able to look after your wife. Please ask us whatever questions you have and know that we are here to help in whatever way we can.
