to everybody who responded!!! I really appreciate your thoughts and

suggestions . . .and I think its REALLY important to share some

personal experience with doctors! Now we have some new RF Ablation

names in the archives, which I know will be of great help to those

who need ideas on " where to go " . . .

Fortunately, today I think I have found a doctor who SEEMS to fit my

criteria. . .and is not far away . . .

I'm getting nervous on how long it is going to take to find someone

who does RFA - with this guy I can hand deliver my scans to him

tomorrow to hopefully save some time.

There is an excellent website

_http://www.livertumor.org/default.asp_

which contains a nice summary of treatment options for liver tumors

_http://www.livertumor.org/treatment.asp_

It also has a state by state " find a physician " section:

" With the Physician Finder, you can easily find a doctor who

specializes in treating liver tumors and other types of cancer. The

LiverTumor.org database has been set up so that you can locate liver

cancer specialists in and around your zip code, or get a listing of

all the physicians in your state who have experience with the latest

liver cancer treatments "

What luck . . .turns out the surgeon recommended by my oncologist is

on this list and has some info on the `net

_http://www.livertumor.org/drs/maurice_arregui/_

(and he's not on www.questionalbledoctors.org either!)

If you've heard anything bad about this guy, please lemme know quick

LOL!

He seems to have a fairly decent resume (I think!). Well, it is so

big I can hardly download it. . . has a lot of experience with

laproscopic techniques. . . seems to be involved in MANY MANY

organizations and conferences. . . doesn't look like a " slacker " to

me. . .

Talked to his nurse today, she says he is " very aggressive " , has

treated patients with 25 mets before. . . doesn't SEEM to refuse to

treat extrahepatic disease (I asked!), which is a BIG deterrent for

many doctors. That is a very good sign!

So I'm having my scans sent to him ASAP– trying to get initial

consultation when I am back from vacation (they said there were no

openings for almost 2 weeks, I would have cancelled my vacation had I

been able to get in sooner but no luck!)

While scrounging around here on the net for RFA surgeon names, I

thought I would mention a couple I am aware of that others might be

interested in

OTHER DOCTORS KNOWN FOR RF ABLATION

Rita Medical Systems

sells the NEWEST and BEST equipment for RFA. . .

If you click on the EVENTS tab, you will find a listing of courses

and seminars. If you look at WHO TEACHES THESE, you will have a nice

list of " progressive " doctors who are up on the latest techniques and

have the latest equipment.

Some names I recognize are

1) Dr. Sewell Not sure if this is the same Dr. Sewell as discussed

here

But if so. . . he is well known as a very aggressive doctor who will

also treat mets ANYWHERE in the body using RFA

2) Dr. Siperstein – Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Clinic is well known as one of the " better " cancer centers

for RFA, from what I heard Siperstein is supposed to be good.

Also well known is

Dr. A. Curley, from MD , who has been doing RFA for a

long time now. Not sure if he will treat extrahepatic disease

though. . .

Anyway, thanks again to all who responded – you guys are the

greatest!!!

Best Wishes,
