Ct scan just looks at your guts to see if anything looks suspicious , where as

the PET scan actually picks up the cancer cells, the Ct scan is the less

dangerous of the 2 , because you generally only drink the barium contrast , and

are usually injected with a tracer dye.

With the PET scan , the drink is radioactive ( joe calls it radioactive Koolaid)

An MRI is more on the order of a CT scan it looks for abnormalities.

If Joe had his choice , he would opt for a PET, the reason being

The CT scan is generally a specific area ,for instance Joe gets his abdomen /

pelvis

done on checkups . but his PET scan was his whole body ,

Again however the PET scan is wayyyy more expensive and this is why most

insurance companies deny it ,

We had to fight em and finally the doc had to say it was for restaging in order

for them to pay it .

P.S. Joe said you also dont have to drink the barium for PET scan

Also Jay , the cyst they found on your liver was that picked up with a PET or CT

?

Joe had one found on his CT , but later found out it was just a cyst , also

going back over (Altman23) story it seems this also happened to him !! So

Joe goes the 26th for a follow up with surgeon , and then gets more scans

every 3 months BUT for RIGHT THIS MOMENT he is NED !!!!! sooooooooooo take that

you dam cancer!!!

Chemo regiment begun Jan 2005

5fu/levorican/Oxaplatin/ Avastin added Feb 14 2005 (Happy Valentines

Calcium Magnesium added for the Tingles Feb 28 2005

Ct Scan done March 23rd 2005 , 16 millimeter cyst like object on liver found

April 1 2005 PET scan done awaiting results

April 11 PET SCAN SHOWS

NED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 9 Plateletts are low 75,000
