Guest guest
Priscilla: Thank you SOOO MUCH for this information. You bet, I will call in or at least listen. I live here in Southern California and the group who put this together is in my area. I had not heard of them before so I am happy to know about this. In addition, for those of you who may not know, Dr. Heinz Lenz (who will be speaking and taking questions) is one of a handful of stage 4 colon cancer gurus in the entire country. He is a genius. He works out of Norris Cancer Center here at U.S.C.. I did a lot of research on him and had an appointment to see him but had to get into surgery before my appointment time. I have met many people who travel from other states to see him. In the meantime, I learned that his equivalent guru on the westside of the L.A. area is Lee Rosen, the PI on the Avastin trials. He was at UCLA and has now opened his own group, Premier Oncology, in Santa . I went with Lee because it is so much easier to get to Santa from my house. With traffic in LA, it can take forever to drive the freeways to U.S.C. which is downtown. (I graduated from USC). Also, since I am in my initial or first phase chemo, Dr. Lenz would be giving me the same chemo as I receive from Dr. Rosen. Anyway, I think this is something we should all participate in. in California In a message dated 10/16/2005 11:00:09 PM Pacific Standard Time, psavary@... writes: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! We have an opportunity to be heard nationwide. I will be calling in and talking about ProjectMARCH and why we are gathering to demand screening for all adults starting at age 18 and regardless of insurance or not. Please call in. Let your voice be heard. The only way colon cancer issues will ever rise to the top is if we seize opportunity when it arrives. Do you want to continue to just hear about other cancers most of the time? Do you want to stand up for those here who were diagnosed under the age of 60? (Because if you were diagnosed in your 50s it was too late - you needed to be screened before age 50 to NOT get this cancer.) Will you make the call? Priscilla A.
