Guest guest
In April 2005, I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. I had 6 weeks of chemo and radation, followed by a 10 hour surgery to remove the impactec colon. It was also found and successfully removed from my uterous, ovaries, and abdomen. I was so lucky to have the best surgeon and chemo doctors at MD . My CEA levels are normal and they believe they 'got all that they could see' of the cancer. It really was a miracle. I'm now on 4 more months of oxliplatin (sp?) and FU5. Since they did a hysterectomy, they decided to do my standard gyno check of a pap and mammo. I just received a letter (yes, a letter no phone call) saying they spotted something on my mammo that requires further investigation. They then scheduled an appointment for follow up in JANUARY. Now, I've convinced myself that I have breast cancer too. My chemo doctor did a thorough breast exam yesterday and found nothing. My CEA is also still less than 1. Has anyone else ever been through this? are they being overly cautious or do I really have something to worry about? It seems now I worry about every little ache and pain.. is that the cancer? is it back? does that feeling ever go away? I haven't read any statistics on recurrance rates, I think its best not to know and just live your life. I just turned 40 and hopefully have a full life ahead of me. I'm attaching my BLOG if you wish to check out my whole story. This has been a life changing adventure for me. It's great to read all of your stories and notes of support. Good health to all! http://spaces.msn.com/members/cancerwatch2005/
