is seaweed a plus or minus for metals?

Does the group advocate eating seaweed (nori, dulse, kelp, etc)?

I've heard that it's good for helping remove metals/mercury from the

body -- is this true? (and if so, how does it do that?)

On the other hand, seaweed comes from the sea, so is it possible that

it could be contaminated with HM's?

To be on the safe side, is it a good idea to buy organic seaweed?

(although this seems hard to come by...)
