Guest guest
---I have done so many tests you wouldn't believe and trying not to be too negative I am really stumped at the moment. We've discussed my progress before when I did the below mentioned testing but I feeling more and more dispondent as time goes on. I really wish that someone like Andy could give people like me some encouragement as I have been faithful to this protocol and am really getting nowhere fast. And now it seems as though there may be little point in stirring up all these metals with the chelators if my kidenys and liver can't deal with it. Is that right? After 19 months of 25mgs DMSA and a couple of rounds with 1mg ALA (that's all the ALA I can handle), plenty of mercury in the blood and none in the urine on round. No improvements other than being able to increase the DMSA slightly after starting molybdenum and generally quality of life getting slowly worse as well as motivation and hope dwindling slowly away too. This is so, so frustrating and dissapointing. I have fast 1, slow 2 liver phases, cystinuria (which no one here seems to know about or share), multiple hormone problems which don't respond to therapy because of the metals, symptoms of Myasthenia, I'm unable to take the recomended supplements for one thing becasue of another anomaly (such as NAC for example)and I am really really exhausted with studying all this and Andy's book month after month and all the other research relating to whatever other problem I have recently unearthed. Sorry, this has turned into a miserable moan. I do firmly believe that Andy's protocol is the only one and that he knows exactly what he's talking about but there are people like me who are struggling with so many complications and realy stuck in a rut still. This subject of whether or not the metals are actually leaving my body is one which I am still not convinced of. I have more and more doubts as time goes on. BUT to end on a positive note - to all you newer folk on the list - don't let my tale dishearten you becasue this is a fabulous group, Andy's protocol is the only way to go IMHO and the majority of people don't seem to be anywhere near as complicated as me. There are lots of people here who ARE improving. Maybe I'm one who just needs a few more years!!! If it were me I would probably want to keep testing until I figured out what was going on. All in all, it would be great if there was more testing and study of levels of excretion and burden in blood, urine, and feces during and between rounds of chelation. It would be great if you could get together 5-10 patients who were starting out, agree on a protocol and tests, and put together a paper at the end. > > Good luck, > > Dave > > > Thanks for that good explanation. Guest guest
Hi You said that you have done 2 rounds with ALA , and at a dose of 1mg.. that is so little that it would not be enough time to see any improvements. What sort of symptoms do you get with the ALA?? I figure if you are getting some negative effects that means metals are being pulled out.\ I would be interested at this point to find out if one should be increasing DMSA above a certain level , say 25 mg that you are using until after ALA is increased?? I have not researched it yet , but will put it out now to the group. From what I have gathered a test is not going to show for sure what is being excreted.. So it goes more about your symtoms.?? I had gone up to 50 mg DMSA but when the 50mg ALA is too much for me I have lowered both to 25mg. IS there any point to take the 50 mg DMSA plus the 25 ALA. Or should I put my money elsewhere> I would be interested in Andy anwerering your questions too. Nanci
