Guest guest
Hi all. Wierd thing happened to me yesterday. My wife put up some sort of strips to kill flys in our porch. Smell not too strong. I was in porch for about a minute and all of a sudden I could't breathe right.Had to get out and I was gasping for air. Almost collapsed.Got very weak and then got the chills. Laid down and took about 6 hrs to recover. This is first time anything like this has happened to me. Has any one ever experienced something like this? Chest is sore this morning. Guest guest
Hi Merf, My guess is likely the same as yours...there was something the fly paper was giving off that you are sensitive to. I just looked a little bit and all fly paper has some kind of "attractant" that causes the flys to come over to check it out. So it's possible it was whatever that substance is. Some fly paper has a poison also so that the insects die quickly when they get stuck. This is what my guess would be. Whatever that insecticide was may have caused your reaction. If I were you I would report this incident to your doctor. Get his/her take on it. And I would avoid any kind of insecticide paraphernalia like the plague. I'm glad you're feeling better. Please take it easy for a day or two, make sure you're really recovered. Be careful! Guest guest
Merf Has happened to me on other things. I can't go into a house where moth balls have been used. I can't stand plug in room deodorizers. I knew before ever reading anything the effect those had on me, but I can show many sites which talk about the dangers. All these items use chemicals, which are more toxic to some of us than others. However, I do try to choose everything I can fragrance free and with the least chemicals around I can. Perfumes, sprays. I have read warnings about the strips you describe although I'm sure others will say they use them with no problem. The reality is that while we talk about industrial pollution and car pollution, homes and businesses are being hit in their own ways. Most of them are closed tight with the air recirculating. Even the small amounts of chemicals added do impact. The perfumes or dies from laundry detergents or especially from dryer sheets are with us constantly. Some of us don't seem to be effected some are. Some have automatic scrubbing bubbles in their baths, releasing chemicals. Now, if your chest is still sore and you're more short of breath than normal you may still need to see a doctor. This also does bring you to something talks about regularly and that is testing for hypersensitivity if you haven't had it. > > Hi all. Wierd thing happened to me yesterday.
