I've been watching your posts for about 3 weeks, and I'm starting to feel more comfortable. I would be chelating my 4 year old son (35 pounds). I would start with DMSA (I am waiting for the hair test to make sure he needs it -he has autism). I would then add in ALA down the road. I still want to read Andy's book (I read about 40 pages so far). >Anyway I'm a chicken about chelation, and my question is would it be effective to keep him low the whole time instead of increasing? Like if I start him at 5mg(can't remember the measurment) and then just keep him that low (then it wouldn't be too harsh on his body). Or is this ineffective? > The dose range that Andy recommends is 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound, starting at the low end and increasing as tolerated to the high end. 1/8 mg per pound would be 5 mg for a 40 lb child. When you start chelation you will observe the side effects. If the side effects are too strong, then the dose needs to be lowered. If there are no side effects then the dose can be increased slightly. Acceptable side effects are something like fatigue and aches and pains at the end of a round. Once you find the right dose you will want to stay at that dose for several months. Then it will be time to increase by a small increment, and again stay at that dose for several months. If you stay at the low end of the dose range for the entire chelation (which could be years), the chelation will be less effective. In order to get the metals out it will be necessary to eventually go up to the high end of the dose range. There is no need to be afraid (of course I understand why people are afraid, because I was there myself once). The doses recommended in Andy's protocol are VERY low in comparison to doses used in the alternative health community, and VERY safe. Guest guest
Hello, I just talked to my DAN about the AC protocol. He admitted that he had heard of it but hadn't looked into. I compared the total dosage that you would give a child my son's weight with the DAN protocol (or at least as suggested in the starving minds book) and then I added up the total for Andy's protocol. They are about the same total amount (if you are going with the super conservative DAN protocol). So my question is what are the arguements against Andy's protocol? I find it really logical. Like if you were going to take cold medicine for 3 days you would take it every 4 hours when it wears out not one huge dose when your cold starts. The only arguement that I have read is that you are chelating longer with Andy's so it can put more stress on liver and kidneys, but it seems like a large dose of medicine (along with a bunch of toxic metal) would be harder on the liver and kidneys then keeping it low and consistant. Thanks (I'm kinda a chicken maybe after I start I'll see that it isn't as scary as I thought sigh) To: frequent-dose-chelation@...: lindajaytee@...: Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:33:54 +0000Subject: Re: Staying low >> > Hello,> I haven't started chelation.
