Guest guest
Does anyone know if a transplant is possible if someone is 20 to 30 lbs overweight - or I should say BMI needs lowered 4 points. Especially if lungs are considered in criticle stage?? Thanks ellen
Guest guest
Ellen, I dont think 30 lbs would disqualify you - I was told I had to be under 200. I am 5'4 " and that would still mean I was over by 45-55 lbs. They should tell you right away in your first conversation with them if its a problem. Of course we would all like to be at ideal weight but with our problems its understandable. Guest guest
Ellen, It depends on the center but all other things being equal 20-30 pounds should not disqualify you. If all your other testing is good and they feel your strong enough physically and mentally to withstand the surgery and recovery 20-30 pounds is not an insurmountable obstacle.
