Can you use warm olive/veg oil dribbled in, instead? Both my mum and dad used to get their ears syringed but I don't think their GP recommends it any longer. Apparently the warm oil helps dislodge the wax. He is going to see an ENT man (admittedly probably in his dotage cos I recognise the name as being the same man as put grommets in my older children's ears..they're approaching 30 yrs old now!), but hopefully he'll have some ideas.
