This reminds me - Dad used to be responsible for giving me my pocket money, but as we rarely went anywhere for me to spend it I used to forget to ask for it or he didn't have the money. So I used to write in my diary when he had last paid me and then when we went to London for his big trade exhibition I'd sit in the hotel room and calculate how much he owed me. I'd then 'schmooze' around his clients, carfully choose my moment when he was with his weathiest customer and right hand man and pounce - always gained me extra. Still remember buying my mum some pottery costers from the Carlton Hotel gift shop and she still has them.
