TK--- you [can] try ala three months after amalgam removal regardless. I would suggest continuing the dmsa alone for now to reduce body burden. please read through suggestions in files section. > > I was also eating fish up until a month ago, and this time last month > my mercury blood levels come back at 40mg. > > Thanks >

What you want to do is lower your body burden of mercury before using ALA, because ALA crosses the BBB, and it is a two-way street. It can carry mercury into and out of the brain. So if your body burden is still high when you use/try ALA, then it might carry more mercury into your brain. If your body burden is low, then it should be carrying mercury out of the brain. Sort of an equilibrium thing. Everyone probably has a different body burden, so we can't say that exactly 3 months is going to take care of this. It is probably just going to have to be trial and error on your part, and judge by how you feel when you do try/add ALA. If it were me, since you do feel really good on DMSA, then I would do just DMSA for awhile, and maybe wait closer to that 5 month mark. But any time after 3 months post amalgam removal, would probably be fine to *test the waters* with ALA. If you don't feel good, then stop. Simple as that.----------Jackie I was also eating fish up until a month ago, and this time last month my mercury blood levels come back at 40mg. -----------I'm not familiar with blood mercury levels, because hardly anyone reports about it, and we don't suggest it either, because mercury has a very short life in the bloodstream, so only very recent exposures show up there. But this could happen while eating alot of mercury-containing fish. So if your blood levels are high from consuming fish recently, then I would suggest waiting 3 months from the time you stopped eating fish to try using ALA, and use just DMSA during that time to lower your blood levels and body burden.---------Jackie Thanks
