Phil's pain has been well controlled the last week or so with the help of

his new pain patch which has been a true God send. His blood counts are fairly

normal again including his liver function. The CT still shows the liver being

quite full of colon cancer cells but it is contained.

there is no spread to other organs or recurrence in the colon.

Phil resumed chemo which is Erbitux weekly and with CPT-11 Leucovorin and

5FU every other week. So far it looks like he won't have any nasty side effects

other than the rash and maybe some bloating. But Tuesdays are now going to

be 4-8 hour chemo sessions JOY

We did discuss prognosis and were told that while we do not appear to be

looking at cure we could expect anywhere from 9-10 months to 2 years based soli

on his current condition and statistics. Dr. Rothman said truth to be told

nobody can really answer that question but given that Phil keeps beating the

odds there was good reason to believe that he will do well.

We discussed work and Dr. Rothman said Phil can continue all his duties as

he has been and was happy to hear that council had taken the initiative to

make sure that problems are handled efficiently and compassionately as it is so

important for him to have emotional support for effective healing for Phil

and all of our family.

While our church has had its problems at times, it definitely has been good

about dealing with these difficult health issues.

From our Youth Minister covering services when Phil is sick, the

establishment of a fund to help with Medical bills, to weekly and daily prayer

they

together with our previous church Hebron and all of you have really helped us

through this journey.

I was able to get a job with Early Connections as a Substitute teacher which

gives me the flexibility to work AND care for Phil as well. I had a call

from WICU TV and it looks like we may be doing another interview regarding the

need for early screening for all adults beginning in their 20's NOT 50's and

Project MARCH which is 1000+ people affected by colon cancer who will be

marching on Washington much as our sisters did with breast cancer and demanding

legislation to mandate early screening.

Dan and Tim continue to do well in school. We just dropped Dan back at

school last night after his long weekend mid-term break. Tim's grades thus far

are

such that he should be in several honors courses next year and have a bit

more of a challenge.

Well there you have it

As usual our thanks for all your prayers and all you do to make this journey

a little easier to bear.

And you are doing it once step at a time and a little song from our church:

God is blessing you now

God is blessing you now

God is blessing you

He is holding you

God is blessing you now
