Guest guest
Hello, We'll be getting started soon and I'm a little confused. My son is about 50lbs. (6yo) I'm going to start chelation next weekend and will use DMPS. My doctor and I talked about starting with 12.5 mg, every 4 hours during the waking hours, but to let him sleep through the night. What do you think about this? At first I thought I needed to do every 4 hours, day and night, and was going to wake him up, but now I see that I should be doing 8 hours according to protocol (for DMPS). It looks like people fine tune their dosage amounts and frequency as they get a feel for it? We will add ALA after 3 rounds or so. Thanks for your help, Jai

My doctor > and I talked about starting with 12.5 mg, every 4 hours during the > waking hours, but to let him sleep through the night. > The starting dosage is 1/8 mg per pound. For a 50 lb person, that would be about 6 mg. The half life of DMPS is every 8 h. That means doses can be taken at 8 h intervals or less BUT once you decide on what dose interval you are going to use then you need to continue to use the same interval at night in order to keep blood levels of chelator as close to constant as possible. So if you decide to dose DMPS at 4 h intervals in the day then you must dose at 4 h intervals at night. If you dose at 8 h intervals in the day then it's ok to dose at 8 h intervals at night. Watch closely and see how he does. If side effects are severe, stop the round and do the next round at a lower dose. Some people need to reduce the dose interval in order to feel better with chelation. The half life of DMSA is 4 h, and ALA is 3 h. (In case you use those in future). > What do you think about this?
