Guest guest
I was stage 3c, 7 out of 12 lymph nodes involved and my Onc did not even consider radiation as an option.. I am thankful for that cause I probably would have refused it. I guess each doc has their method or regimen of treatment but I be curious as to why they recommend radiation in some cases and not in other cases. I might just ask my onc that if I get to see him finally in November. That is a good question.. Maybe we could make that an assignement that those of us who will see our Onc in next month or so ask that question about radiation.... we have a whole slew of enquiring minds who really would like to know... Guest guest
Hi Jolene Len mentioned something about radiation the other day and I tried to respond but found that my mail was bouncing back for some reason (first time that ever happened!) Anyway, I'm trying to catch up with what I've missed. Len said that receiving chemo probably depends upon the location of the cancer and when he said that it did ring a bell for me about something I read. I think radiation therapy can be effective for rectal cancer but is not protocol for the rest of the colon. For some reason, it may not be effective and so isn't recommended. My sister's cancer was at the upper portion of her rectum and that's where they're going to aim the radiation. If someone else has addressed this in the meantime, sorry for the redundancy! It takes me a while to get through the posts. > > I was stage 3c, 7 out of 12 lymph nodes involved and my Onc did not even > consider radiation as an option..
