Meds like armour or dessicated thyroid? --------Here in the US it is by prescription, but I think people have found ways around this. We do have some links in the LINKS section of this group, under this heading, Thyroid & Adrenal supplement links , so you can check them out. And I believe this is discussed on groups like NaturalThyroidHormones, which is the Yahoo group connected to the Stop the Thyroid Madness website, that someone else mentioned. And as they state on their website, we also don't advocate self-treatment, but prefer you work with a doctor, but we also know that is very difficult at times.---------Jackie ----------They do have some links you may find useful, even for other countries, so you may want to join.--------Jackie http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormones/ This shall pose a problem for me since I have to persuade the doc here in Spain to even get any tests done. ----------You could try this link.---------Jackie http://www.internationalpharmacy.com/en/home I am visiting in the States and was hoping to get saliva tests done from Diagnos Techs and the like for both adrenal and thyroid but it looks like I have to go thru a provider from their list (Diagnos Tech for Adrenals - they are not doing thyroids for a while). What a pain!! Can't I get the labs done directly on my own?????!!!! ---------There are others. I've done my saliva testing through ZRT Labs, and they also offer blood spot testing for thyroid, but I have never done it. This is the same lab for tests from the www.johnleemd.com website. www.zrtlabs.com I have never used these, but there is also www.healthcheckusa.com, www.canaryclub.org (I believe the canary club uses DiagnosTechs and ZRT), and www.directlabs.com. Not exactly sure what they all offer. You should be able to order from any of these without a doctor, that is my understanding. ZRT is the only one I have personal experience with, so really can't comment on the others. As pointed out, you may want to test your other hormones too, while you're at it. I did, and found out I was very deficient in progesterone, and low in some other things too, so it was very worthwhile doing.---------Jackie

Sex hormones? Gut (infections? food intolerances?). Not everyone needs Armour (turns out I didn't), but when everything else is balanced/fixed, the thyroid starts working better. ----------I agree . Alot of my hormones are/were out of whack, and my adrenals are probably the worst, and my sex hormones are out of whack too. I'm not taking any thyroid meds, but my antibodies have gone down, so I believe my thyroid is also working better, by working on other things.---------Jackie
Guest guest
Just to add, > ----------You could try this link.---------Jackie > > http://www.internationalpharmacy.com/en/home > > I ordered it to internationalpharmacy from Madrid and received it without problems. Details: Armour Thyroid Tabs 30 mg (0.5 Grain) 100's Price: $34.20, Quantity: 1 Shipping: First Class Air Mail - $8.10 Total: $42.30 I think there is always a chance that the drug to be stopped at customs. Small quantities are less likely to be checked. Note this is just a one-case report! Finally, I didn't use it. I have problems with adrenals too (I think that this is the case for most of us) and supporting thyroid imply that one should support adrenals first , so I started with DHEA, pregnenolone and licorice. After some time taking these and other supplements, my hormonal issues improved a lot, so I didn't use Armour yet. Good luck, dear toowittybird. It seems we are almost at the same step of our healing path: my new crowns don't fit well and I cannot chew my rice properly too!
