Well, last night we met with the Bishop and Phil is going to go on

disability.

He will be able to work as much as he can but of course the salary will go

down.

Probably won't go into effect until January for his Board of Pensions and

May or so for Social Security.

Phil will probably stick to one service with Liese, or other pastors filling

in as needed.

We are so lucky to have Liese who is worth far more than the salary we are

able to pay her.

I tried telling our 14 year old Tim today and he got very angry saying we

are all pessimists and Phil is going to be fine. This is what his 18 year old

brother Dan says as well.

They refuse to think that Phil as dying. They are super resistant to

counseling

but I'm getting worried about them.

Hopefully Dr. Rothman has a few more medical tricks up his sleeve that can

buy him a little extra time. I am torn as I so want to be optimistic because

Phil has done amazingly well up until September, but we really are running out

of options and that coupled with the condition of Phil's liver at least

makes things look worse than they've been.

We don't plan to " give up " and we will certainly look at all reasonable

options but Phil is not willing nor will I ask him to do treatment that

prolongs

his life but makes his life a living hell

by sending him back and forth from the emergency room.

These are the hardest decisions Phil and I have faced in our 20 years

together. We are trying very hard to take ourselves as individuals and as a

couple,

our boys and extended families, and all our friends into account as we face

this beast head on.

We know we can continue to count on all of you for love prayers and support.

With much love and gratitude and of course God's blessings to you all.

Narice, Phil, Dan and Tim May

Narice, I am so saddened by all of this going on with Phil. Praying

for a miracle. There may be a treatment option that will work.

Prayers can move mountains. Love, Ingrid
