From what I read, it is a genetic problem where cystine doesn't get absorbed very well and is concentrated in the urine. (Note that cystine is different from cysteine. Cysteine is the one that has readily available thiols that are problematic) > I have this according to my > Urine amino acid testing. > > I understand that urine AA testing isn't recomended here but is it > really OK to ignore this result? No. The fact that you are not absorbing cystine is important information. I could only guess about what to do (with diet and supplements to try to increase absorption of amino acids). Andy would be the one to ask. You could post the test results (include everything, numbers, normal ranges, units, anything at all that is on the paper), and send the post number to Andy. Include the plasma tests too. I had this done as well as plasma > testing because it was part of a package of tests. > > >
