Guest guest
Dan, You are SO RIGHT that cancer sure does put us through a lot. I know everyone is different. is young and surely this is a good thing for her. Her body will be strong enough to spring back from the terrible effects that the chemo did to her. Her hair will grow back full and bouncy. Mine has been doing that since last May. I even think it has less grey hairs now too. My neuropathy improved with time. Almost all gone. Still have slight tingles in my feet but I can tell it is getting better. It just takes a long time. Hopefully this is how it will be for too. The doctors cannot make any promises with nothing since they all have the law suit fears. Just make sure that takes her vitamins after this chemo is done. A good multi is always good to take. Gosh, It will be so wonderful for both of you with this finally coming to an end. Praying for it!!!! Love, Ingrid > > > > > > Well everyone just had chemo treatment #11 on Wednesday. > She > > > is so excited that she only has one more to go until it's all > over > > > with. Guest guest
Well done to for sticking out her treatment, I am so glad she is nearly finished. It does take a strong and determined person to challenge cancer and to put up with the treatments. I am seeing that with my husband Matt who is now just a quarter of the way through his chemotherapy. I would find it very hard to put into words explaining it to anyone who has not seen this kind of courage close- up. Painfully though, it just makes me love him even more and consider this disease even more despicable. I also wanted to agree with you on getting well-informed. Cancer caught us unawares but I feel we now know what to look out for. This group has certainly helped with that; Matt is now going to have his CEA levels checked, I first heard of that here. It will be 8 months for us too since the diagnosis, a very steep learning curve. Hope the neuropathy wears off before too long as it is incapacitating and perhaps an unpleasant reminder. All good luck to you both for a cancer-free future and well done to you for being such a wonderful support. Warmest, Fran PS I know what you mean about it being tough for you too. > > Well everyone just had chemo treatment #11 on Wednesday. Guest guest
Ingrid, Thank you so much and glad to hear that you are progressively getting better. I'm definately hoping the same for . She is so ready to be done. She takes quite a few vitamins each and every day now. I kept telling her to take them but she slacked off there for a while but when the doctor told her to do it she does it, go figure? She'll get back to close to 100% before long. Just praying and keeping the fingers crossed that this is the last time we see that nasty ole cancer. Guest guest
Fran, Stick in there with Matt, he will have days where he wants to quit and all you can do is tell him just like I did that we'll do whatever she wanted to do but..... and give him the reasons for the treatments. None of us who aren't going through the treatments can really understand what our loved ones are going through but we have to be stronger than they are and lift them up when they are feeling down. knows now that with these treatments that there is a possibility of it coming back but we are better prepared for it if it does. What we wouldn't give to take the place of our loved ones. I would gladly take 's place in a heartbeat and she knows it. When I first heard the news from the doctor that she had cancer I felt like my whole world had ended, but I wiped the tears from my eyes and put my arms around and told her we would get through this together. I'm happy to say that we are getting through it and are the stronger couple for it. Keep fighting Fran and while there will be days that you feel like quitting, don't. Matt needs you more than ever and no matter how tough he thinks he is, he needs the strength of your love. Hugs & Blessings to both of you. Guest guest
Jolene, I think the B6 is helping a little, if not physically I think mentally it is helping . You know what they say about mind over matter. I truly believe that with positive thinking you can overcome anything. Hugs, Dan & > > Hey! The end of treatment is in sight. Hooorah for . Guest guest
Good luck, ! Have that last chemo and get well. Praying for you and Dan. Praying for everyone~ ~Deb from KS Dan & wrote: Well everyone just had chemo treatment #11 on Wednesday. She is so excited that she only has one more to go until it's all over with. It's been hard on her as you all know. I probably don't post on here often enough to tell everything, but for those of you who have gone through colon cancer or are the caregivers of someone who has or had colon cancer you know what I mean. It's been quite tough on me too but I maintain as well as I can. The oncologist didn't lower her dosage because of the neuropathy she is going through, he did tell her she needed to take 3 doses of B6 every day to try to help with it. That and the hair loss is probably the hardest part for . I've learned so much from the group and want to encourage anyone who is new to the group to read everything they can in here as it all helps in one way or another. As I learned early in this battle you have to be informed. Don't ever go into the oncologist, gastroenterologist, surgeon or any other doctors office without being informed. And please bring a notebook. If they say something you don't understand question them about it and by all means write it down and do the research. Colon Cancer alone is a pretty scary thing, but the drug treatments can also scare the heck out of you. We'll get through this last treatment and then continue with all of the post treatment testing for how ever long it takes to ensure that it doesn't come back and if it does we'll be on top of it much quicker than the original diagnosis. I thank God every day that I am with and I also thank him for finding this group. And although 's treatments may be coming to an end, I'll still be popping in here to check on everyone. For those of you who are new to this group you can check out everything that went through by visiting her website at http://home.centurytel.net/mariascancer I'll be keeping the website up for anyone who cares to read about her.
