Guest guest
Hello everyone I think I may have asked this before but I am double checking. I had to stop working in April. My boss has agreed to pay me my salary thru the end of the year to help me get over the 6 mos waiting period for disability. He is very worried that it will conflict w my getting ss disability. At our meeting in Orlando, I asked the paralegal that was there from the disability attorney's office and she said that as long as I am not " earning " money, SS does not care who chooses to give me money. Does anyone know for sure about this? It basically is him paying me because it is very small company w/o a formal short term disability plan. But the way he pays me is by keeping me on the payroll. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Eileen UIP/IPF May 06 Boca Raton FL
Guest guest
Eileen It's a very careful subject, but if you are doing no working and he is paying you under a short term disability plan, whether its formalized or not, then that doesn't impact your social security. You need to make sure both you and he always refer to it as disability pay. Self covered short term disability plans by companies are paid on payroll with certain changes based on timing as to taxes. Even disability from an insurer is still on a W-2 and often you have to respond to social security regarding it. > > Hello everyone > I think I may have asked this before but I am double checking.
