Guest guest
Joyce, How does the portable concentrator work if you want to go out and about? AB From: Bruce Moreland <brucemoreland@ gmail.com>Subject: Re: Travel TroublesTo: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. comDate: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 1:31 PM AdrienneIf you're traveling by car, the answer is for them to loan you a smallreservoir and put it in your car. As to only one supplier in Washingtonand they only deliver once per week, I'm sorry but I don't believe them.First, while most suppliers have a set day to each area, they all doexceptions. My supplier would meet you at the airport if you were flyingin here or deliver to your hotel and doesn't matter what day. I thinkyour supplier is talking about one within a group with whom theyparticipate.I know Lincare serves DC from Lofton, VA and also has offices inGaithersburg, MD and Beltsville, MD. Home Medical serves DC fromGermantown, MD. Respicare serves DC from Springfield, VA or Columbia,MD.> >> > Hi Folks,> > I have a dilemma. Guest guest
Bruce, I will remember that for future travels. At this point everything has been finalized. Thanks so much for your information. You really are a wealth of knowledge. AB Subject: Re: Travel TroublesTo: Breathe-Support Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 9:25 PM AdrienneCall a Lincare office near where you're going directly. Tell them yoursituation. Also, my understanding is that you can carry a liquidreservoir on a train. Double check with Amtrak and then talk to yoursupplier if thats the case. Last time I checked was over a year ago andyou could carry either a 25 lb reservoir or a 50 lb reservoir up to halffull as the limit was a total weight of 75 pounds.I wish I could remember the company that will coordinate oxygen in otherplaces, but I can't. My old oxygen supplier who is local only didparticipate in their program and they found me oxygen on the coast onNC, in Chattanooga and anywhere else I needed. If your oxygen supplierisn't familiar, I can give you the number of my old supplier and I'msure they'd give you the phone number. The service was free if yoursupplier was a member but a charge if not. Now, you did have to pay forthe oxygen.> > >> > > Hi Folks,> > > I have a dilemma. Guest guest
Adrienne, They run on a battery that lasts a few hours. The battery can be charged by plugging into the wall. If you have more than one battery for the POC that extends the amount of time you can be out without charging it or plugging into the wall. Guest guest
Bruce, You are right! We have to be advocates for ourselves and fight for everything we want and need. AB Subject: Re: Travel TroublesTo: Breathe-Support Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 10:37 PM Adrienne and othersIn the future, please don't let oxygen providers keep you from doing asyou want. Talk to the managers, not the customer service reps ordrivers. Ask for their assistance. Face to face is even better, but makethem see there's a person needing help not a stop on the oxygen run.Don't take no because there is a way somehow. Sometimes it may involvesome cost. For instance using a local provider as I did and Bethdoes you may have to pay at a travel location. I wish I could say itseasy and we didn't have to fight for ourselves. Sometimes if we can wehave to even switch providers. Unfortunately the providers don't seemvery creative in coming up with solutions.> > > >> > > > Hi Folks,> > > > I have a dilemma. Guest guest
Hi Merry, When I've researched about the portables they seem to big to be carried on a shoulder. Could you tell me more? AB Subject: Re: Travel TroublesTo: Breathe-Support Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 9:58 PM The portables I have used run off the cig lighter in your vehicle and it charges your battery and it also has a battery pack. It also has a wall plug that you can charge it and the batteries when you are some place you can plug in. I have a cart it goes in sim to the one your tanks go in that carries it and the battery pack and it runs off them.. I can also just carry it on my shoulder or my dh carries it for me. They are not to heavy.I love them as they give us more freedom and we are not stuck in one place. I also have carried my home concentrator in the car with an inverter that plugs into the cig lighter and then I plug it into it using the wall plug. Where there is a will there is a away ... The one made by airsep that I have you can take it on airplanes it was at the time one that was okayed for that kind of travel.hope this helps even though I am not Joyce..merryI count not a day complete till needle, thread and fabric do meet.2009 will be mighty fine!Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil,as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. Guest guest
Merry, Thanks for all your info. I will do a search and hopefully find out what works best for me. I refuse to let this disease keep me limited. We all have to keep on going. AB Subject: Re: Travel TroublesTo: Breathe-Support Date: Friday, August 14, 2009, 6:10 PM the first one I had was from www.airsep.com. I got it from my supplier and got a nice price on it cause it had been a rental. I can carry it on my shoulder and so can dh I usulaly put it in a shopping cart when we are out grocery or other shopping works great. I also have a cart to drag it behind me like the tanks with a place for the battery charger that carries four other batteries that I can also with a chord hook up to my concentrator in the cart and use those batteries when the other one runs out or I can just change out the batteries when they run down..Just do a google search for "portable concentrators" . Thats what I did to find out all I could on them and this IPF.hope this helps if not let me knowmerry
