Reading about the pattern of fatigued in the morning and peppier in the

-----------It may be that you have a different pattern, having enough cortisol

in the morning, but then it drops off as the day goes on, so you're exhausted

later in the day. The best way to know for sure would be to do a 4X/day saliva

cortisol test. You can order one without a doctor, and I think the two

preferred labs are ZRT and DiagnosTechs.------------Jackie

-----------Another thought, do you have lead? In HTI in the lead section,

Andy says that people with lead poisoning like to get up early and feel better

in the morning, can't stay up late, and feel worse at night.----------Jackie

Also, 20 years ago, my cortisol tested high on blood work and I spent 1 week

collecting all my urine to test for something, but I don't know what...the

something was not present. Last time I had a conventional medical test, my

cortisol was not sky high.

-----------We recommend saliva testing.----------Jackie

For background, I have been hypervigilant all my life due to trauma

-----------Hypervigilant about what?-----------Jackie

& think that hyper arousal like this would burn out something, even without

the mercury poisoning...

---------Not sure if I'm following you. Hyper arousal from what? Do you mean

if you were to supplement cortisol? Not everyone needs replacement cortisol.

There are other ways to support your adrenals, and I suggest you do some reading

about it in the Links section, and consider getting a book like " Adrenal

Fatigue, the 21st Century Stress Syndrome " . And Dean has some good info at his

website too.----------Jackie

does this hodge podge still point to adrenal fatigue?

----------It could. Maybe your daily rhythm is still fine, so you have enough

cortisol in the morning, but maybe your adrenals just pewter out by the

afternoon, and just can't make enough for the whole day.

You could try like 1/2 tsp of sea salt in water and see if that helps. Also

Vit C and B's are very important for the adrenals, so make sure you're taking

them throughout the day. And you could try something like licorice, which is

supposed to help conserve or recycle the cortisol that your body has made.

But the best way to know for sure would be to do the saliva

test.--------Jackie

I'll appreciate any thoughts. Helen

****This pattern fits adrenal fatigue too. Many have a difficult time

getting started in the morning, and another low point at about 4 pm.

> Also, 20 years ago, my cortisol tested high on blood work

****Blood tests are not useful for following cortisol because the

quantities change from minute to minute. The stress of getting to the

blood draw clinic and waiting for tests can be enough to drive

cortisol up, and then it can quickly fall when you are done.

****Saliva tests would give a better picture.

****Right. Trauma burns out adrenals.

****Yes.
