I second that!! This is one of those things were reality doesn't quite seem to live up the theory!!! It certainly never happened with me - I generally found breastfeeding OK, but both my kids were extremely demanding from about 5 to around 9 in the evening, and they would just suck constantly until there was nothing left - and there just wasn't!! If I let them suck forever, they would get increasingly ratty, and then perhaps after about another 1/2hr-1hr there would be a tiny, tiny amount coming through, but certainly not lots!! What it would do was increase the milk supply - but with a sort of delayed reaction - so perhaps 24hours later I would have more than before. I certainly don't understand this 'it will just keep flowing' theory - surely the body has to produce the milk some time before it can come out? In my experience it takes time to change the amount of milk you produce - both when you need more and when you need less. (Otherwise why would you get swollen breasts when the child decides to drink less than normal)?? Karina
