Guest guest
Cuyler Liquid is the only form a regular pharmacy will have by prescription. The other two forms are: 1-Available as a non-prescription supplement from health food providers and online. 2-Available from a compounding pharmacy in a tablet of capsule form. > > On a previous post, members have said they have this medication in both capsule form and a vial with a twist off cap. > > My vial is the typical one with a rubber cover just under an aluminum cap and I cannot find a way to get the medicine out without using a needle to extract and then to squirt it into my mouth. > > I asked the Wal Mart pharmacist if they would order either of the other types for me and was told what I have is the only kind available from the mfr. > > Anyone know about this? Guest guest
As Bruce mentioned if you are getting the NAC via prescription the pharmacy only supplies liquid. You can purchase the capsules at most health food stores (GNC etc.) I buy my capsules very reasonably priced online from Puritan Pride natural vitamins. I don't know the equivalent of what your dosage is - but my dosage is one 600 mg. capsule 3 times a day. Guest guest
Guyler, In clinical studies of NAC, 1800 Mg. per day is normally what is used and recommended. Capsules from Puritan's Pride or Iherb are usually 600 Mg. and sometimes I have seen 500 Mg. capsules. There is also a time-release formula, which in theory will keep acetylcysteine available longer for producing glutathion in lung tissue. I take 600 Mg. 3 times daily spaced out as much as possible. Per month, NAC through mail order is not very expensive, and especially if you use other supplements. In the capsule, you may find NAC easier to carry on the road. Guest guest
Hi Cuyler,Your vial sounds similar to what I have. There is a rubber cap that I just pop off with my fingernail, and then I have to grap hold of a tiny aluminum twist in the center that spirals off. Mine says 10 mL Vial and I take it 3x/day.Don't drink it plain! I mix the entire vial in a small bottle of juice and drink a portion 3x\day. Guest guest
peel off the metal cap, then lift off the rubbery cap, then you can pour the liquid into a measuring instrument == in the beginning, my vials came with droppers == i think the droppers were premeasured the liquid smells terrible, so it needs to mixed with a liquid such as cola that will camouflage the taste read the information on the brochure that comes with the vials for advice Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Acetylcysteine distribution? To: "Breathe-Support " <Breathe-Support >Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 5:57 PM On a previous post, members have said they have this medication in both capsule form and a vial with a twist off cap.My vial is the typical one with a rubber cover just under an aluminum cap and I cannot find a way to get the medicine out without using a needle to extract and then to squirt it into my mouth.I asked the Wal Mart pharmacist if they would order either of the other types for me and was told what I have is the only kind available from the mfr.Anyone know about this?
