No crackles...oh my. Glad you've continued stability. The PFT's are

certainly not fun, but coming home knowing everything is as you felt and

nothing to alarm you sure is. I'm sure you'll enjoy the round of

pulmonary rehab. After the flu situation and just the passage of time

and interruptions, I'm sure the program will get you to where you want

to be exercise wise.

>

> That's the news we all hope for. PFT essentially unchanged. Echo well

within normal limits and no crackles to be heard this time around. So I

am proclaimed stable and sent on my way. I'm tired and happy. I asked

for and was given a prescription for another round of pulmonary rehab. I

haven't been in nearly 3 years. I know how much it helped me last time

and I'm confident it will help me this time around also.

> I go back again in September. I have an upper GI scheduled in early

September and then another visit to Dr. on, PFT and this time an

HRCT just cause I haven't had one in awhile.

> These visits aren't alot of fun but it's good to find out I'm still

stable and can continue to live my life the way I like to.

I would say no one with PF should go more than a year between

echocardiograms and at anything but the early stages we should have them

closer, like every six months. We have PFT's and some have CT's repeated

but they don't lead to action like an echo might-action that may prolong

our lives and keep them better.

One thing I use in my thoughts sometimes is an understanding that my

remaining life is limited and therefore some time frames need to be

compressed. If I was healthy and had twenty years to go, I'd not rush to

echocardiograms. But I don't want PH cutting the enjoyment of life I

have left short.

Hi Joyce,

Yes I did pulmo rehab but unfortunately insurance doesn't cover another round. If I knew the cost then I may be able to see the expense.

Thanks,

AB

where i went -- St mary in Langhorne, after rehab there is maintenance -- about $7 or $8 per session

then i joined the wellness center at St -- more like a full size gym, $40.-- per month

some people have insurance that covers it

i try to go there 2-3 times a week

Adrienne,

How long has it been since you did pulmonary rehab? Most insurance will pay for more than one round of rehab as long as a certain amount of time has passed or if your condition has changed significantly. My old insurance required a year to pass before they would pay for rehab again.

Medicare will also pay for rehab more than once as long as enough time has passed or it is medically indicated.

If your insurance won't pay for another round now it might pay for a session or two with a physical therapist to help you figure out what exercise is currently safe for you.

Adrienne,

The place I go to said that if you're hospitalized or enough time has gone by,

ins. will cover again. Also, after rehab there's a maintenance program that's

$25 per month. You go 3X per week. You never know. Your place might have

something similar. It's worth checking into.
