He tried the Erbitux and had a severe reaction to that and will never take it again. But on Thursday of last week he developed pneumonia. His white count was terribly low and so was his hemoglobin and platelettes. His antibotics have started to work and his white count started to rebound a little - but he is receiving a 3 pint blood transfusion today. He is fighting but it has definately taken a toll on all of us. Kristi Praying for you, your family and your Dad. Guest guest
Kristi, I am so sorry your dad is having it so rough. Thank you for posting and letting us know. It reminds me to pray harder for you dad. How are you doing? I know this is taking a toll on you too. Coming here and talking about your dad does help you too. Love, Ingid > > My dad was dx. Guest guest
Kristi, How very frightening for you all. It sounds like he is having good medical care but I'll be thinking of him and praying for his body to have strength to fight this off quickly. I am glad to hear your Dad's growth has shrunk though. Take care, Fran > > My dad was dx. Stage IV with met. to both lobes of the liver in July > 2003. I've been on the board since then but am not really an active > poster any more. Guest guest
I'm doing much better after the initial shock wore off. I mean " how could he be sick " is what when through my mind. He was just teaching school and he just had a cold. But of course as you all know just a cold isn't good for someone that's been having chemo and has a weakened immune system. Guest guest
Hi Kristi. sorry about your dad, It was a shock to each one of us, when told we had cancer. How could this be?, feeling so good, just couldn't believe it. why me?, what have I done to deserve cancer?. could I have eaten better? what can I do? Every question of why why why. has gone thro our heads. What can I do???? FIGHT IT. Believe I can get over this, I have too much to live for. PRAY... for strength and help.... That's why we take the chemo and radiation. to keep on fighting this thing that has taken over our bodies. We pray for each other on this site, for healing and strength, caring about each other and help support each other. This is a great group of people Sometimes our prayers are not answered as we wish , but we don't know the final answer of life. So come back as often as you can. let us help you and your dad with prayer and hope. NEVER GIVE UP HOPE. -Hanky
