The oncs had him take last Friday off but kept him going the five days this

week. I was gone most of the day and he said he slept some, has gas to an

extreme along with heartburn, and not much appetite. The docs aren't

managing much in the way of side effects because he 'lies' to them:-) Gonna

Wayne it, then comes home and falls apart. I am a nurse (not working

now) so am managing him fairly well except for the water intake. It is so

important for people getting radiation/chemo to drink enough fluids! No

wonder he complains of constipation. Today, he drank a diet coke (why

diet???), about four ounces of gatorade and about 12 ounces of water. When

I am home, I take a 16 ounce glass of water to him four times a day and

demand that he drink it before the next one is due. Those days he has a lot

less problems. These are in addition to any coffee, tea, sodas, etc. He

balks because he has to get up so much at night to urinate. The doc told

him that was due to the radiation and the tumor pressing against the

prostate but he doesn't believe it. When things get too stubborn, I call

our son who is an RN and a certified Oncology Nurse. Dad listens to him,

VBG. I may have to call and tattle this evening............
