Guest guest
Oh Louisa!!! That school sounds MARVELOUS!!! Give both those girls a hug for me. ellen Dinky school WOW - What a discovery. I went to visit a school yesterday six miles away from here....there are only 30 pupils in the whole school.....ranging from aged 3 to 11 - imagine that? Now I am thinking WHY wasn't this the LEA's first choice for Liesel given her complexities, it's perfect for her....no, they would rather dump a few children on the spectrum in a massive mainstream school to get on with it and call it the resourced provision! They haven't got a clucking fue have they? It's perfect and the headmistress is very nice, quite naturally Liesel and Freyja are going to be in the same class by default, I had requested this happen cause there ain't no way Liesel will return without Freyja's being with her.....I think it's lovely that they want to be together. The headmistress was very open and honest with me, she has zero experience in autism and had never heard of Autism spectrum disorder until yesterday, imagine how sensory integration dysfunction and Hyperacusis went down? ROFL But she actually GOT what I was telling her, which makes the difference this is going to work because she won't be the heavy " I am, I know it all " . Anyway, she is happy for this to go ahead so long as we get it in writing from the LEA that they will put their money where their mouth is and provide full time support for Liesel and the school, otherwise it can't be done. I am taking the girls to see the place this morning.....those teachers are going to be hooked! SO proud of my babies ) Louisa

Guest guest
Way hay, we are all set up! The girls loved it, it`s just perfect for them, why did I not know this place existed? I used to work right around the corner, but then I didn`t have children then! Liesel was like her old self (like she used to be) we have to have a 'power meeting' sometime next week to work out the finer details of full time support - which is already half organised employ somebody part time and make the nursery nurse who is fantastic full time. All the children are bundled together from 3 to 7 and the 7 to 11 are in another classroom. It WORKS, it's unconventional but that is what we were looking for. Mrs. the teacher put some music on at snack time and Liesel was raising her hands to her ears, as I moved towards her, she turned it off. Yippee This was a actually a really excellent sign because I had said yesterday, that she doesn't normally raise her hands to ears when things get too much she simply withdraws and then nothing gets in....but she wasn't withdrawn so she could display her discomfort and at least these new people could get a grasp of the situation and she was still functioning. I am so excited about this now, they know and they understand and it hasn't come through training it comes through care and that is the key to this. Meeting all the other children today was really great, I have never seen a class shine so much, they are so happy, it's like one big family. For the first time in a long time I feel this is what we have been waiting for and we have had to go through this shit to get it. Perverse I know but life is like that. A little country road with a small school and lovely staff who can think on their feet...wonderful! The atmosphere is like home, comfortable and loving! I am sitting hear crying because it's like a dream. They can start any time pending finding this extra member of staff, in the meantime the school have opened their doors and welcomed us to any events there may be. Somehow I don't think it will be that long. YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Louisa

Guest guest
If only we all could have such positive school experience.
