Guest guest
How About The PACIFIC NW? There seems to be quite a few members in this area. Seattle has an aquarium too! And Pike Place Market. Mariners game anyone? Guest guest
Peggy, I really wanted a chair but the insurance company would only pay for a chair. The biggest difference is if you want to carry more than a few things. You can get a bigger basket on the scooters. The chair I need to use a backpack or small basket so if I go to the store I use their electric carts. For me the chair is for events that involve a lot of walking. Since its just me it takes a lot to put on and off the lift on the truck. I imagine eventually I will use it more for things but as long as I can keep my sats up dragging " Fred " (suppose it should be Ernie for E tank LOL) around I will. Guest guest
Chair vs. Scooter Now, medicare and many insurances only cover when you need it for indoor use, which means they generally expect to provide a chair rather than a scooter. At one time scooters were thought of as for outdoors and chairs for indoors. The scooters were more stable at speed and had bigger wheels. The chairs had a shorter turning radius. The scooter had steering more like a steering wheel and the chairs used joysticks. Now, however, there are scooters with narrower turning radius and the chairs are more stable and have larger wheels. Regardless though, most scooters are still difficult to maneuver in houses while chairs are easier. Meanwhile either can be used elsewhere. If I were only going to use it outdoors, I'd choose a scooter. However, if I saw myself using it both places, then I'd choose a chair. Chairs also often have seats that raise and lower and that turn to the side. The comment on carrying capacity is definitely an issue. The scooters generally come with nice baskets. There are baskets for the chairs but still not the same space. In fact, there are even trailers to pull behind the chairs. However, I can't see that happening or working personally. > > > > > > For ME personally, I'm not so interested in " things to do " ... too > > much walking is difficult for me and even with O2 I can get SOB. > > > Whatever the majority chooses I'll consider. > > > MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. > > > Nasturtiums > > > Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! > > > > > > Possible West-Coast get-together... > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all you Californians. ..and thanks to Ken O. for working on > this! > > > > > > What about the Carmel/Monterey area? Guest guest
Bruce, True so true. I mean my chair is great, 6 wheels 2 large, 4 small, spins on a dime and goes fairly fast on top speed. I have a o2 tank carrier on the back which limits having a basket there. When that Giant Ball of Fire in the sky goes out in October and you can actually breathe outdoors again LOL I intend to ride it to Walgreens and Church which are a mile or so away instead of the truck. I am very happy to have it because I know eventually I will need it more in the house. The Scooter store guy actually said he has seen people with their concentrator tube basically strung on the ceiling so that the chair doesn't cause problems. Sounds like fun Ha Ha. Last time I climbed a ladder I fell and sprained my ankle really bad. My kids have forbidden me to climb anything except into bed.
