Guest guest
Becky, That sounds like a great SLP you have! You're lucky. Janice [sPAM]Re: [ ] anyone prefer PROMPT or Kaufman method for hteir ki... I'm not sure that my answer will help you much-- but here goes Our SLP (the private one we use here at home-- not the one at the CCD that we go to) uses a MIXED approach using both the Kaufman AND the PROMPT methods. She basically is taking her 35 yrs of experience in the Speech field, and her training with both m ethods, and catering a method that is geared for his specific needs. I would be wary of an SLP who wanted to try ONLY one thing or another-- because quite honestly, I feel that all of our kids need a program that is specifically geared for their needs in order to be TRULY effective. Why not suggest this to your SLP? Ask if there's a way to use combined methods to reach your child? I know that there are mixed thoughts on PROMPT, but I think with the right person and the right amount of trust factor with the therapist and child, it can work effectively. I know that some kids don't like to be touched, so obviously that should be taken into consideration as well. becky **************Start the year off right.
