I never bled in either of pg's 1 and 2 so when I had a massive bleed - on the beach in Cornwall at 18 weeks with DS3 I was convinced I was having a miscarriage. The registrar was a little bemused when I burst into tears when she found a heartbeat, I was so relieved. I was very sick early on in that pg, far more so than any of the others so am convinced that it was a lost twin. Curran Mum to 4 boys. Guest guest
When I first got to the hospital, they did a blood test for pregnancy and kept making a big thing about telling me it showed " very strongly " pregnant, as though the " very strongly " was somehow significant. I thought at the time they were simply confirming that I was miscarrying rather 'just' haemorrhaging, but my independent midwife later said they could have been telling me they suspected a twin pregnancy as apparently you do get very much higher levels of HCG in multiple pregnancies than singleton. Certainly, the blue line took mere nano-seconds to show on the home test I did, but I thought that was because I was quite a long time pregnant, iyswim (I'd only done the test that morning - what a day that was!) Anyway, I guess higher levels of HCG *could* make you feel more sick..
