Guest guest
Make your own with pears! Let them ripen till yellow and soft, peal and core them, cut up into small pieces, place in a pot, add a small amount of water and boil till translucent. Then just mash them. Guest guest
Thanks Sue I'll have by husband pick some up. We're also going to try and make our own ice cream. I've been trying sherbert to see if she can tolerate it but no luck.

I've been trying sherbert to see if she can tolerate it but no > luck. > Yeah, sherbert contains dairy. loves sorbet, but it's expensive. Of course it depends on which fruits she can't have too. What products are you trying to avoid for her? Is she gfcf? Sue
Guest guest
, She could be having reactions to lactose or the protein in dairy. Try giving her the lactose free milk. If she reacts to that then you know it's the protein. If it turns out to be the protein, you can try cutting out all uncooked dairy and see if that works. I can't have milk, but I can have puddings that are cooked with milk in them, certain ice creams, yogurt, pizza with cheese, etc. The cooking seems to help break down the protein in the dairy. Hopefully this will work for . Sue
Guest guest
loves sorbet, but it's expensive. > > Really? It's cheaper than ice cream at my discount grocer! > > Jacquie Must be nice! It's $3.49 for a pint of it here (about a 1/2 liter size, I think). Ice cream is that price for 4 times the amount and sherbert is $1.69 for twice the amount of the sorbet. Guest guest
Thanks Sue. I'm going to test some things next weekend and see what I come up with. I'm wondering if I should get rid of dairy or if I should try some enymes. wendy
Guest guest
I would say to find out if it's the dairy first, then eliminate the uncooked products. If that helps, then you could try adding it back with the enzymes. Sue Re: Snacks and Lunch ideas-pears > Thanks Sue. I'm going to test some things next weekend and see what I come > up with. Guest guest
I'm trying lactaid ice cream tonight. Should have results sometime this week. If she reacts again then we'll be off to the allergist. My poor dr office referral referral referral. She will of course need a Christmas present all her own after this year
Guest guest
, You might just want to do the remove and add testing rather than putting her through allergy testing. When it comes to food allergies, the tests can show negative even when an allergy is present. I was told the same can happen with blood work for allergies. showed a highly allergic reaction to dairy years ago, yet shows no response to the blood test. It may have to do with the fact that it isn't a histamine producing reaction that we're seeing (same with ) and that's what the scratch tests look for. Thought you might like to know, Sue
