Guest guest
From what I can tell secretory IgA and serum IgA are 2 different things. This test tells you that your serum IgA is normal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IgA > > > > > > > > Hello, atm there is no salivary Iga test widely available in my > > > > country (poland), can sb tell me if a blood test for Iga is a good > > > > measure of Iga deficiency? The best places to test Sec IgA are in the gut via a stool test and in the saliva. Gut Secretary IgA - indictor of the immune response of the gut. SIgA is an antibody (AB) secreted by the mucous membranes (there are five AB's that the human body releases: G, A, M, D, E, and only A is specific to mucous membranes and is a specialized AB that controls the pathogens at the interface between the environment and the human body's mucous membranes). Lower levels are indicative of a low immune response or a leaky gut. Lowered immune health of the gut is most often caused by abnormal flora, since normal gut flora help to maintain good gut heath. Correcting the gut flora with probiotics will help to improve gut health and thus raise IgA levels. A leaky guy usually goes hand-in-hand with food intolerances, because if you have a leaky gut you start reacting to larger food molecule that are making it past the gut lining before proper digestion has taken place. Avoid foods that one is allergic to will improve the gut lining, and taking supplements that contain Glutamine will help healing of the gut lining e.g. Ultraclear Sustain, and Glutagenics (two excellent Metagenics products). Moreover, high levels of Candida can cause damage to the gut. If low, the advice can be to use Olive leaf (150mg twice a day for 2-3 months, 150mg) to stimulate local immunity. High levels of SIgA are preferred as it shows that there is an active immune ability. Sec IgA is tested in the saliva by DiagnosTechs to check the immune response also. When it is low it suggests low immunity and part of the indicators of adrenal problems. It is an early sign of adrenal stress. They advice AMLA for 3 months to increase it. I don't think serum Sec IgA is very helpful and have not seen it used for the above purposes (though I could be wrong). DeanSA
